Medical Transcription Word of the Day: geographic tongue - a condition in which the tongue has patchy discolorations and raised areas on it, somewhat resembling a map.

Nanowrimo: Okay, so here's the deal. My story is called The Curse of Avriet. It's about people living in a cursed kingdom. Problem is, I'm not showing them living under the curse! What the heck is the matter with me? I know I wanted to tone the king down from being a total lech, because I didn't think that would appeal to a mass marketplace, and besides, I really didn't want to write about him being a lech. Too adult for the mainstream audience I want to write for. But geeze! I should at least be writing about everyone else's curses! *rolls eyes at self* I am going to have so much editing to do on this in December. However, I have almost made quota for the day--I want to exceed it by at least 100 words, if possible. I guess quality can come later.

We're going to see The Incredibles tomorrow night. I'm looking forward to it! For now, though, I'm just sipping on a bottle of Shiner Bock beer, finishing up Nano, and enjoying being at home.

I do not feel 40 years old tonight; I feel age 12--
Frightened, confused, distressed,
Wailing at loss, frantic not to let go
Of someone fondly regarded.
At least, not without knowing why I must.

Days stretch into emptiness.
The calling voice echoes itself back.
I don't know what to do, what to repair,
Or even if it was I who broke it.

You can hold a dead plumeria in your hand
For only so long.
