A Dating Poem from Medium

A poem by Mr. Anis Labidi
Yo, back in the day before Tinder was a thing,
We had phone lines buzzing, voices had that bling.
No swipes, no pics, just a message on the tape,
If your words had rhythm, you could still escape.
Blind dates? Nah, that was last resort,
Gen X love was freestyle, no digital court.
Met dudes at Kung Fu, met ‘em in the mall,
Bookstore cappuccino, yeah we lived it all.
Now it’s coffee dates rage, everybody complain,
But cappuccino conversations used to fuel the brain.
Micro‑expressions, tone, the smell in the air,
That’s how you knew if romance was there.
So don’t hate the latte, don’t diss the brew,
Coffee’s just the stage, the vibe is you.
Swipe culture’s noisy, but the truth remains,
Love ain’t in the app — it’s in human veins.
Boom.
